In the 19th century, how did doctors talk about and treat heart disease and heart attacks?
I’m looking for sources or answers to the question of what terminology and what treatment was used in the 19th century by doctors in the case of heart disease and what we now call heart attacks, mycocardical infarctions and other heart problems. I am researching this topic for a novelist friend. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The main question is what did 19th century doctors call what we call heart attacks and how did they treat them
To my knowlege the treatment of choice was digitalis and bed rest and very few people survived more than a very minor M.I.
